Multiple experiences have shaped Tony Hopson: the road trip where his family couldn't find a desegregated restaurant; winning the state championship as a member of Oregon's only black high school basketball team; the day when two of his summer camp students were involved in a drive-by shooting. His journey has helped make him passionate about changing America, and among
Gathering participants he knows he's not alone.
But as he thinks about change, Tony wonders if it's enough. He wants to see a collective movement to make youth and education the number one priority in America, but wonders if others are willing to make the necessary sacrifices. Calling on members of the Gathering community to realize that they already have the knowledge needed to create change, he issues a charge for the movement to begin now.
